Filed under: Bots — Nuno Silva @ 11:12 am

It has been brought to my attention that the bots weren’t working. In fact, due to the recent updates, there was a problem that prevented the bots from working.

The problem has now been resolved and you can now do the campaigns and friendly with your nice and deadly bots :)

  1. I like to give the bots a very good advantage, like give them 5 times my units. They become very hard to beat. This tip maybe useful for some players out there, good for training.

  2. How good are the bots?
Will it be a real time strategy game A.I set on Hard difficulty?

Or did you just hook it up to a chess game A.I.?

  3. unfortunately, although the battles in orion’s belt are similar to chess, the complexity of making a bot in Orion’s belt is higher than doing a chesse AI not only because the special powers, but because the number of moves (6 moves) that you can do and the distance of the attacks.

Specially the number of moves, makes the tree of possibilities enormous and hard to compute.

So, now we have two bots: one that works as a Firing Squad that only shots at greater distance and makes basic moves and another that computes a tree of possibilities and chooses the best. And this tree is so big that we cannot even predict moves ahead… This is unfortunate because this way we could make the bot easy or harder, but the computation time would be absurd

So, answering your question, the bot are easy to beat by and experienced player and yes, it’s realtime. After you make your move, the bot will start to compute the next move.

If you want to test it, do a campaign or create a friendly choosing the bot as adversary

  4. I agree Nuno, it is much harder.

The level of the bot can be determined by the quantity of units. The more the harder.

  5. There is a battle api for people to program, but I’m lazy to do it =/ Anyway a good addition would be the release of the code for a sample bot, I find that people connect easier to changing things then creating from scratch ;)
