The Training Day Tournament is almost starting! We’re missing 3 players to reach 8 groups, and that will be the biggest tournament to date! Having so many groups means that you won’t get so much good players on your group, and that will be great for training and for increasing your ELO.

increase my ELO even more? I’ve stopped minis for weeks now so the gap would be smaller hehehehe

Yeah, we should have something to separate players that are on the top because they won lots of mini tournaments and those that are on top because they win the big tournaments
Comment by Pedro Santos — November 12, 2009 @ 11:56 am
the only difference is big tournaments have orion prizes and group phase the rest is equal and if you ask me, minis are faster and more fun =)

True

But there are a lot of top players that don’t go on mini tournaments. And on mini tournaments you have more challenges to face, meaning that you can loose earlier.

well i have to say that i completely abandoned my “tournament carreer” just for one reason. I just dont like those fleets there. They seem so far away from the universe reality that i dont see uses of them anymore.
I know there probably is a lot of people that like them. But for me it would be nice to have some “more realistic” tournament fleets, that could be great help for training for all players for universe battles.
I would make some series of tournaments with strictly race fleets, with most power in common resource units. i certainly could come up with some nice setups for each race if anyone wants
Comment by vranasm — November 12, 2009 @ 7:08 pm
Fleets are auto generated based on all units available. If you’d like, you may suggest additional fleet creation algorithms, for example: X Rain, Y Krill or Pretorian, etc, etc

Great idea Pedro, oh about reborned, he may have enter many mini tournaments and gave him lots of ELO points but he is a very good player, i don’t know if its only me but his the only player that makes me feel like newbie. I only won him once and it was a flag game (which any one can win) and it was a very stupid move. But all the other games i’ve played with him, and i do get through to the semi finals or finals many times, i lost them. I hate playing against him
i know i’m going to lose. So i think he deserves to be the number one player, maybe its just me, still have lots to learn
Comment by Danceman — November 12, 2009 @ 7:19 pm
Yeah, if you see my profile I have 5 finals on my bag, all lost to reborned.
Comment by Pedro Santos — November 12, 2009 @ 7:21 pm
thanks for the kind words from both, I know I’ve played at my best through lots of the tournaments wining against lots of great player like mawhrin. But too many battles also gets you tired, trust me, I’m relaxing more now I got like 2-3 fights a day to play in contrast to almost 15-20 that I used to have xD You may have lost danceman but the first battle we had you really impressed me, you’re a good player, I really thougth I would lose that battle. Atm I think there’s lot of good players emerging like Kulen and old returning like Kazoo, it’s good for the game =) I just named a few dont get sad for not getting your name refered here… ^^ Btw the only good player I’ve never won is Firiten =D
Comment by reborned — November 12, 2009 @ 11:37 pm
There’s always someone we can’t beat!
It’s quite annoying. And there’s always some guy that’s almost unbeatable at some point. First it was Pyro, then Anfernius, then Amazing Kazoo, then Skywalker, now reborned.
The major difference now is that we have a _lot_ of good players. We could easily get the old Masters Cup with 20 players.
